ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN 2
This module introduces the principles and methods of analysis, abstraction, and synthesis in design thinking that are common to many design fields, including building and architecture. The key emphasis of the studio is "User and Context', which investigates the relationship between user and natural environment.

Project 1
In this project, students are required to investigate how architecture and spaces are created from establishing design intentions and the making of architectural elements: architectonics - solid, planes, lines and frames. Students are required to formulate their findings into analysis diagrams and diagrammatic models, based on design intentions, organization of form, organization of space, circulation and paths-space relationship, spatial hierarchies, context and elements.
Project 2A
Students are required to conduct site data collection and analysis of the physical immediate context of the site, including site layout, natural physical features, existing man made structure, sensory data, climatic studies, circulation pattern and human activities. Students are also required to produce site analysis using design response vignettes matrix and site use alternatives.
Project 2B
The aim of this project is to generate structure, form and space through architectural design intentions and principles gathered from Project 1, with the emphasis on the user requirement, ergonomics and site responding to develop an architectural proposition. Students are to design a look-out structure which should correspond to the chosen site.
Project 3
The objectives of this project are to introduce notions of design intentions, program and process in architectural design; to introduce students to the understanding of user specific design requirements; to introduce notions of space, form and function in architectural design; and to introduce awareness of site specific design and the process of site analysis. Students are required to design a mangrove wildlife observation unit at Kuala Selangor Nature Park. An observation unit denotes 'a structure at the edge/ center of a mangrove swamp to observe its' wildlife'.
