PROJECT 2B
Look out structure with a view
In this project, we are required to design a look-out structure with a maximum area of 30m square, based on previous site analysis in project 2A. My design is located across the river, near the aviary as it maximizes the view seen and sound heard by the user. The form of the structure is inspired by the bird's nest, and allowing the user to experience a journey of a bird, "flying" into the structure, also the nest, look out from the nest, and either cross the bridge to the other side, or continue walking by the river. To create a "flying" experience, the facade of the structure is made of two way glass, thus, the forest is reflected on the glass, blending in the structure into the woods. A resting area is also provided on first floor, tied with ropes to form a net, allowing users to lie down and observe the trees from below, the penetration of sunlight through the leaves, or observe the scenery from a high level. Furthermore, the users are able to have a close-up view of the river on the ground floor, as half of the structure is on river, allowing them to observe swamp animals.

REFLECTION
In this project,I am able to learned how to use design elements such as space, surfaces, openings and partitions in the design of a simple architectural space and also design a structure which responses to the site context. I am also able to improve my architectural drawings after tutorials with my tutor, and also receiving feedback given after the presentation. I am able to explore different ways to express my design intentions after a few trial and error in terms of sketches and model making.
