PROJECT  2A

Diagramming site analysis: Design Vignettes

Our site for this project is Kuala Selangor Nature Park  is known for a wide variety of flora and fauna. The nature park comprises over 200 hectares of coastal land where a large part of it is mangrove swamps. It sits at the foot of Bukit Melawati, a historical hill with the remains of an old fort overlooking the mouth of the Selangor River, the town, and the mangrove mudflats below. The microsite given to my group is the watchtower area, around the aviary.

After our site visit to Kuala Selangor Nature Park, we gathered our collected site datas on site layout, natural physical features, existing man made structure, sensory data, climatic studies, circulation pattern and human activities, and composed into presentation slides for easier understanding and convenience. After a few discussions with my group mates, we have decided to split our jobs to analyse the site given based on different scopes and produce  design response vignettes. We have also came up with 5 site use alternatives and presented our findings in 6 A3.

REFLECTION

This is our first site data collection project, thus, I have learned the collection and analysis of site data. I have also learned how to present the analysis in diagram vignettes and the effect of site context to the buildings. I am able to understand the importance of responding to site context when designing a structure.
