Progress
We started by exploring different designs for the banal activity decided, which is standing. We had discussions regarding the user's feeling in the structure, anthropometrics and ergonomics related to the structure. Each group members came up with different designs, and after having discussion within the group members and with our tutor, we finalized our design.
Final Model Design
Our final model design consists of 3 different facade covered with different density of triangular panels. The triangular panels were weaved with different density of strips to show different density of shadows when light passes through, creating different feelings when the user experiences the structure. The triangular panels only cover partially of the structure, as our idea was to allow private space for the user and yet allowing the user to feel connected to the outside. We have also received advises from Ar. Wan Azhar regarding the construction of our bamboo structure.
Construction
We started the construction stage of our bamboo structure by measuring and cutting every bamboo poles, slats and strips required. Next, we build the three frames with the triangle panels, then we moved on to the roof of the structure. Lastly, We tied up the three frames and the roof with diesel soaked ropes with Japanese square lashing method.
Bamboo Structure
Our bamboo structure consists of 3 different ways of standing position, which are arm-resting, peeking and leaning. Although some parts of the design was altered compared to our test model design, but the main idea was maintained. Overall, the construction was a success, with our teamwork and help from our tutor.
